Ricordiamoci che Pompei è stata oggetto di una terribile eruzione nel 79 d.C., con migliaia di vittime, gente polverizzata viva o intossicata dai miasmi del vulcano, le città vicine completamente ricoperte di materiali eruttivi, danni per miliardi di sesterzi. Si è trattato di un disastro senza precedenti nella storia del nostro paese. La prima cosa da fare era mettere in moto la macchina degli aiuti: nell'arco di poche ore erano già in loco oltre 15mila soccorritori. Pompei era rasa al suolo, i morti aumentavano di ora in ora, c'era la gente viva da estrarre dalle macerie e centinaia di feriti da curare. Il patrimonio culturale, abitativo e il tessuto economico avevano subito perdite gravissime. Di quei giorni drammatici ricorderò sempre la fierezza dei pompeiani che non si sono mai dati per vinti e la generosita' dei soccorritori che hanno dimostrato una professionalita' encomiabile.
Eh? Vabbè, però è un dato di fatto che, 1.932 anni dopo il disastro, Pompei continua a crollare a pezzi...
Guardi, noi abbiamo pensato innanzitutto a dare una casa a chi l'aveva persa, evitando che gli sfollati vivessero per anni in baracche e roulotte come e' avvenuto in Italia per tutti gli altri terremoti.
